How does God’s word encourage your heart? Do you remember that God is present with you? Are you listening to what He is saying? Are you responding with a heart of worship?

On Sunday, March 16th, Pastor challenged our hearts to focus on "God is sovereign and He is going to work His plan in His way for His purpose." We looked at Genesis 28:10-22 and saw 3 responses in Jacob's life that led to his recognition and worship of God's blessings in his life

BIG IDEA: God blesses us because of His grace, and we respond in worship.

Pastor asked us the following questions about our worship:
~What is our worship like?
~Is it resistant or generous?
~Is it calculated or impulsive?
~Does it reflect the greatness of our God?

Psalm 27:3 our memory verse for March says, "Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident."

This verse points our hearts and minds back to the first verse of Psalm 27 where we say "The Lord is my light and my salvation... The Lord is the stronghold of my life..." I must trust God in every situation, struggle and trouble that arises in my life. God is always working for His glory and our good.

How are you attempting to act as sovereign in your story rather than trusting in God’s sovereignty? Where do you need to be trusting the Lord?

Pastor Mike brought a great challenge to our hearts as we walked through Genesis 27 and the story that Isaac, Rebekah, Esau, and Jacob attempted to make their own. As a family, they demonstrated a complete failure of trusting God to carry forward His plan.

Pastor directed our attention to the failures and consequences for each of the family members and reminded us that "We must trust God to accomplish His purposes in and through us for His glory."

We heard a very encouraging message from Norman Brewer on "Trusting in God Alone" from Psalm 62 on Sunday, March 2nd.

He challenged our hearts with 3 focused points in this Psalm that show us how we should trust God and not be shaken in our faith when difficulties come. Our hearts were challenged with the thought that "God is present with us even through the hardships of life." Pastor used 5 events from Isaac & Rebekah's lives in Genesis 26 to show us how we can face difficult situations and trouble in our lives and still choose to trust and follow God.

Pastor challenged us to remember that "God is present with us. He is no less the Lord even when we are alone. We can be content with Him."
