Day 1: Meditations on Anger, Patience, and Peace

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

Anger. I recently read that a mind that is not under the leading of the Spirit is a mind that tends toward anger or anxiety. We likely tend towards both of these at different times, but the issue is not anger or anxiety, but that we are not being led by the Spirit. Paul urges us to be filled (under the control, leading, power) with the Spirit. Literally it implies a "yielding to the Spirit." The focus of these devotions is anger as we are guided by Ed Welch's book (tap picture below).

"Anger is so common, almost ordinary." However, we must acknowledge that most anger is sinful anger. To be angry is to destroy. We have likely experienced the destruction of anger and done some destroying ourselves. Anger destroys relationships, destroys our health, and destroys those around us. Do you struggle with anger? Join me on this journey as we look at anger, patience, and peace in light of Scripture and the freedom that Christ gives us through the gospel.
